Not too much this week. Most of it is from stripping the side bed this morning. Might be green beans and herbs only for a while.
700g carrots
These were some young carrots that I wanted to harvest before the pest controller arrived to spray this morning. I gave them to our next-door neighbour because we have an excess of carrots at the moment. The kids ate a few with lunch.
160g Wild Arugula
Australians generally call this ‘wild rocket’. This batch was also harvested before the spraying. These plant are perennial, so I hated to pull them out. I really need to plant a new patch because they are so handy to have in the garden. They don’t bolt to seed and go bitter like other salad greens.
300g Green Beans
Some from the old patch mid-week, some lazy housewifes from the side bed that I pulled out (see picture). Next week I should have some from the new planting.
An armful of flat-leaf parsley
My parsley patch was right in the way of the pest spraying. I cut as much out as I could carry in my arms and the rest will need to be pulled and tossed away. I’ve already planted replacements in the main bed, so I shouldn’t be without for long.

Lovely harvests- and even if pulled in a rush to get away from the bug guy. Hey- I gotta say bugs belong outside not inside. LOL. I have an enviro friendly bug guy and he is really good. He only comes when I need him to and he sprays only the base floor and the attic. It keeps the creepy crawlies out. My kids allergies are too bad to go without. Don’t feel bad. But, maybe look into the enviro friendly ones.
That is a lot of parsley. What are you going to do with it all?
Might have to be tabbouleh Daphne. My husband isn’t feeling too well today, so some vitamins will do him good.

being very allergic to almost all chemicals I have never sprayed my house for anything….can’t even imagine spraying poison all over….

Thats interesting about your rocket – I have one that looks very similar but I find it goes to seed all the time – mine is called ‘highway’ do you know what yours is?
It is Wild Roquette – Diplotaxis tenuifolia ‘Sylvetta’ from Diggers. It flowers constantly, but just sprouts again from the base. So I guess technically it is running to seed, but it doesn’t matter.
Ahhh – my variety is very similar then – as it flowers, seeds in and just gets bigger and bigger – I pull it out occasionally when it starts to look a bit yellow but new ones keep popping up.
