Life gave me lemons

11 Aug

I’ve posted before about my bad luck with citrus. My lemon tree actually has some fruit on it now, but it’s not going to supply my lemon requirements any time soon.

So it was thrilling the other day when I spotted a local family selling lemons and other citrus from their backyard trees on the side of the road. I bought a large bag of lemons for $4 and made lemonade with the kids.

Little D was particularly taken with them.

“Wike more Wemons?” I’ve been hearing since Tuesday.

More is in addition to the two that he’s been taking to bed with him ever since.

Those are big lemons. And very cute kids.

Your kids are gorgeous L. I love the Little D is taking them too bed. Miss Three likes to suck on the lemon halves after I’ve squeezed them … Or before if you take your eyes off them with her reach, don’t know what the attraction is, she’s certainly not bothered by the sourness.

That’s great Barbara 🙂 I love kids who give things a go even when they aren’t super sweet. If Little D tasted the lemon he probably wouldn’t want to cuddle it anymore!

They have really thick skins, so not a cultivar that I’d plant personally, but they did the trick for our lemonade.

I’m trying to wean Mr 2 off his dummy – perhaps lemons are an appropriate subsitute comforter???

Hehe Liz 😉 We’ve gone through that process twice ourselves – sympathies!

Well that explains why there were lemons in the kids bedroom yesterday… I was going to ask you about that (I’m a bit behind on the blog reading at the moment!)
